Francis Jeffers training with Tranmere Rovers

Former Everton and Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers begins training with Tranmere Rovers.

Former Everton striker Francis Jeffers is currently training with League One side Tranmere Rovers.

The 31-year-old is a free agent following his release from Australian outfit Newcastle Jets earlier this year.

Despite taking part in training with Rovers, the centre-forward has admitted that he is currently keeping his options open.

"I've had a couple of preliminary offers in Australia and one or two in England as well," he told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I'm going to work hard and prove my fitness. You never know in football.

"You always keep striving and I'm no different. You want to be playing the game.

"I've missed a fair bit of football through injuries throughout my career, so it's important that I stay fit and enjoy a bit of football."

Arsenal paid £8m to sign Jeffers in 2001.
