West Bromwich Albion's Steven Reid reveals that his career hinges on him staying fit over the coming season.

West Bromwich Albion defender Steven Reid has admitted that the upcoming campaign is a "big" one for him.

The former Republic of Ireland international spent a large part of last season on the sidelines with a variety of injury problems.

Having signed a new one-year deal with the Baggies earlier this summer, the 32-year-old believes that if he was to suffer similar complaints over the coming months, he may have to consider his future.

"This is a big season for me. If it goes well I will carry on and if it's another injury-hit year we will see what happens at the end of it," the Express & Star quotes him as saying.

"Hopefully I can stay injury-free but if that doesn't happen there will be a decision to be made at the end of the season.

"I've got to be realistic, I'm not going to be fit for every game. It probably suits me to play maybe 15 to 25 games, but if I can make a big impact in those, hopefully, that's good enough for the club."

Reid joined West Brom in 2010 from Blackburn Rovers.
