Northampton Saints see off dogged Sale Sharks

Northampton Saints see off a plucky Sale Sharks 27-16 at the Salford City Stadium.

Northampton Saints have stretched their unbeaten run to three matches in all competitions with a 27-16 victory at bottom-placed Sale Sharks.

Jamie Elliott, Soane Tonga'uiha and Tom May all touched down in the first half as the visitors took control of the contest.

Ryan Lamb kicked over an additional 12 points in response to Mick Macleod's penalty as the Saints led 27-3 at the break.

A mini Sale revival got underway four minutes into the second half when Rob Miller's try was converted by Macleod, and they went over again three minutes later through Tommy Taylor.

However, they were unable to find any more points as they slumped to a ninth defeat of the campaign.
