Dan Lydiate could feature for Wales at the Six Nations as he has broken just a bone in his left ankle.

Wales flanker Dan Lydiate could play in the Six Nations as his ankle injury is not as severe as initially thought.

The 24-year-old suffered the injury during Newport Gwent Dragons' 32-12 victory over Edinburgh on Friday.

Early reports suggested that Lydiate had broken and dislocated his left ankle, but further examination at Newport's Royal Gwent Hospital has revealed that it is not so serious.

Lydiate has broken a bone in his ankle and will undergo an operation on Sunday at Newport's private St Joseph's Hospital.

He could be back in action in four months and could feature in the latter stages of the Six Nations for Wales, but is definitely out for their autumn internationals against Argentina, Samoa, New Zealand and Australia.
