Head coach Graham Potter says that Chelsea can have few complaints with recording a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday night.

Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has acknowledged that Saturday's 1-1 draw against Manchester United was 'a fair result'.

The two clubs went into the Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge separated by just one point, occupying fourth and fifth position respectively.

That remained unchanged as they each earned a share of the spoils, Casemiro's stoppage-time header cancelling out Jorginho's penalty which had been netted during the final stages of normal time.

Both teams have reasons to be disappointed with the stalemate, with United having failed to turn their general dominance into goals during the opening 45 minutes and Chelsea having been closing in on maximum points.

Taking everything into consideration, Potter has admitted that he and his squad had to be relatively satisfied with a point apiece in West London.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Englishman said: "It's disappointing because we're 1-0 ahead at the end but over the course of the game a point is about right and I'm not sure if we did enough to win it.

"A really fighting performance from us, we improved a lot after 30 minutes so we will take what we get. We couldn't get enough control of the game in the middle. The boys gave everything they can and improved a lot in terms of our work, but we were playing a good side.

"I thought the players' attitude on the pitch was great, the boys gave everything in a hard, intense match in the middle of a really busy period. The boys left everything out there.

"Kepa [Arrizabalaga] was a bit unlucky (with the goal) but it's only just gone in and the first goal we have conceded in a while but we have to take the positives. I thought we could've attacked a bit better at times. We had chances, they had chances so a point is about right."

Kalidou Koulibaly was a notable absentee on the left-hand side of Chelsea's back three, and Potter has suggested that the Senegal international faces the prospect of a period on the sidelines.

Talking to reporters at a press conference, Potter added: "He just felt his knee at the back end of Brentford. We've not sure of the extent yet but this one was too soon for him."

Chelsea are next in action when face Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday night, the English side knowing that victory in Austria will secure a place in the last 16 of the competition.
