England manager Thomas Tuchel will reportedly be reuniting with two Chelsea backroom staff when he officially starts work on January 1.

Newly-appointed England manager Thomas Tuchel will reportedly be reuniting with two of his former staff members from Chelsea.

After widespread reports emerged on Tuesday, the Football Association confirmed on Wednesday that they had chosen to replace Gareth Southgate with Tuchel.

In becoming the third foreign coach to be placed in charge of the Three Lions, the decision is sure to divide opinion, as well as the German only being handed an 18-month contract through to the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.

Tuchel is due to begin work on January 1, leaving interim boss Lee Carsley to remain in charge for the final two UEFA Nations League fixtures against Greece and Republic of Ireland respectively.

However, Tuchel will want to stamp his authority on the role as soon as possible, and it appears he has moved to secure the services of two staff members that he knows from his time at Stamford Bridge.

Hilario added to Tuchel staff?

According to Nathan Gissing, the editor for the website of Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tuchel has chosen to bring in Henrique Hilario as his goalkeeping coach.

The 48-year-old has occupied that role under a number of different head coaches at Chelsea since his initial arrival as assistant goalkeeping coach in 2016.

During his playing days, Hilario was somewhat of a nomadic figure, but he spent the final eight years of his career representing Chelsea.

A total of 39 outings were made in all competitions, while his only and one cap for the Portugal senior side came in 2010.

Gissing adds that Hilario will remain in his job at Chelsea, only working with Tuchel and England on a part-time basis.

Furthermore, an unnamed Chelsea analyst will also be linking up with the Euro 2024 runners-up, it currently unclear whether that will be on a full-time or part-time basis.
