Arsene Wenger hits back at Arsenal critics

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hits back at criticism of his side and their approach following their 3-3 draw against Anderlecht in the Champions League.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hit back at his side's critics, including former player Paul Merson, following their draw against Anderlecht in the Champions League.

The Gunners surrendered a three-goal lead against the Belgian side at the Emirates Stadium in midweek as they were forced to settle for a point in their clash.

Critics lambasted Wenger and his side, with Merson claiming that the Frenchman and his team were "tactically clueless", but the 65-year-old is adamant that he isn't bothered about outside opinions.

Wenger told reporters: "Regardless of the score you have to play the right way: you have to defend well and attack well. Why should you stop playing one aspect of the game?

"These debates that I hear are a joke, a farce. People who have managed altogether zero games, they teach everybody how you should behave. It's a farce. If I really cared, do you think I would have survived for 18 years?

"What I care about is if players are punished or criticised in an unjustified way. Honestly, I cannot even be upset about it. It does not matter to me. You say what you want. You are free. I managed Paul Merson... I tried. I'm not interested in him."

Arsenal face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in their Premier League clash later today.
