Per Mertesacker "proud" of Arsenal win over Manchester United

Per Mertesacker expresses his pride following Arsenal's 2-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has admitted that he is "proud" of the team's FA Cup quarter-final win over Manchester United.

The Gunners took a step closer to retaining the trophy on Monday night as they left Old Trafford with a 2-1 victory.

Mertesacker and his teammates will now face Aston Villa in the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.

"I'm very proud," the German told the club's official website. "The team performance was so great and that's why I'm very pleased with the performance. We go to Wembley again and that's something we can be very proud of."

Arsenal's Premier League campaign continues on Saturday when they entertain London rivals West Ham United.
