Villarreal announce that former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has been given the chance to revive his career back in his homeland.

Villarreal have confirmed that Santi Cazorla has been given the chance to resurrect his career at the Spanish club.

Cazorla has been on the sidelines since October 2016, with the playmaker requiring a number of operations on ankle and Achilles injuries.

However, while Arsenal released the Spaniard at the end of the season, the 33-year-old made a return to light training in May and will now look to continue his progress at his former club.

On Tuesday, Villarreal said: "Today we have a very special thing to tell you because it is time to see someone very loved by the groguets. Welcome back Santi Cazorla."

The midfielder will spend his third period with Villarreal, with 233 appearances having already been made for the Yellow Submarine.
