Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez.
The 19-year-old moved to the club from Danubio last summer, but made just one league appearance during the 2013-14 campaign.
Gimenez did feature for Uruguay at this summer's World Cup, however, impressing in his three appearances for the South American side.
According to AS, Sunderland want to sign the highly-rated defender and are prepared to meet Atletico's valuation of the player.
Atletico attacker Cristian Rodriguez is also believed to be a target for Sunderland.
