Espanyol manager Mauricio Pochettino insists that racism must be 'eradicated' from football following racist chants towards Dani Alves from Espanyol supporters.

Espanyol manager Mauricio Pochettino has hit out at his club's supporters who aimed racist abuse at Barcelona defender Dani Alves.

The 28-year-old was the subject of racist chanting during Barca's 1-1 draw with Espanyol last night.

"We condemn it, we want to get away from these situations," Pochettino told El Mundo Deportivo. "We want to eradicate these things and I'm right behind that."

Alves claimed that he didn't hear what appeared to be monkey noises during the Catalan derby from the Espanyol fans.
