Half-Time Report: Bournemouth ahead at the break

Matt Ritchie's goal just before the half-hour mark gives Bournemouth a 1-0 lead against Brighton & Hove Albion at the interval.

Bournemouth are 1-0 up against Brighton & Hove Albion at half time in their Championship clash at Dean Court.

The hosts had the first chance of the contest in the 16th minute when Brett Pitman tried a speculative overhead effort from the edge of the box, but goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak made an easy save.

Then on 28 minutes Ashley Barnes squandered a good chance for Brighton as he failed to get the better of Bournemouth keeper Lee Camp from a tight angle at the back post.

That miss came back to haunt the Seagulls when Matt Ritchie put the home team ahead just moments later, finding the net with a direct free kick from 20 yards.

Ritchie could have doubled his tally minutes later had Kuszczak not been alert to his header after Ryan Fraser had sent in a good cross from the left.
