Everton boss Roberto Martinez has defended the performances of centre-backs Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin in his side's 6-3 defeat to Chelsea at Goodison Park.
The Toffees were pulled apart at the back by Jose Mourinho's side as Diego Costa scored a brace, troubling the England international and the veteran Frenchman all afternoon.
However, the Spaniard has insisted that Jagielka is not suffering from a World Cup hangover despite his side conceding 10 goals in their opening three matches of the season.
Martinez told reporters: "I wouldn't say so. We take responsibility as a team. I don't think it's about individuals.
"It would be wrong to highlight individuals. It's more a feeling we need to get rid of.
"Defensively, we're not a team to concede four goals in the opening two games. That's more of a worry than the six we conceded here, up to a point."
Everton have been linked with a deadline-day move for Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross.
