Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho takes swipe at Manchester City's transfer conduct

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho takes a swipe at Manchester City's Financial Fair Play troubles following their £28m acquisition of Wilfried Bony.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has taken a sarcastic dig at Manchester City following their capture of striker Wilfried Bony from Swansea City.

The Ivory Coast international, who was also linked to Mourinho's team, signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad Stadium earlier this week.

When asked about City's £28m purchase, Mourinho made reference to the club's previous Financial Fair Play problems, which resulted in them getting fined £49m by UEFA last year for failing to comply to rules.

"Well done, good player, good striker," Mourinho told reporters. "If they have the money and can spend it and have no problems with Financial Fair Play, well done.

"They can only play with 11, unless the rules for them are different and they can play with 12. It looks like the rules are different for them in certain aspects, but not this one.

"If Bony plays and [Edin] Dzeko is on the bench, I am happy with that. Fantastic squad, one more top player for that squad, [Sergio] Aguero, [Stevan] Jovetic, Bony and Dzeko are fantastic. Well done."

Chelsea are yet to make any signings this month.
