Chelsea send John Swift to Brentford on loan

Chelsea midfielder John Swift joins Championship side Brentford on a month-long loan deal.

John Swift has become Chelsea's 34th loanee of the season by joining Championship side Brentford on a one-month deal.

The 20-year-old midfielder will remain with the Bees until October 31 and is eligible to feature in their away match at Derby County on Saturday.

New Brentford head coach Lee Carsley told the club website: "John played against us for Chelsea's Development Squad level in August and was very good.

"He has lots of energy and can play in various positions. He likes to shoot, which is something that we want in the team."

Swift, who has one Chelsea senior appearance to his name, spent the second half of last season in League One with Swindon Town, scoring two goals in 19 appearances.
