Sven Goran Eriksson tips Arsene Wenger for England job

Sven Goran Eriksson says Arsene Wenger would be the ideal candidate to manage England.

Sven Goran Eriksson has said that Arsene Wenger would make the perfect England manager.

The former Lions boss does not believe that the next national manager needs to be English, and said that Wenger could adapt to world football.

"People talk about Harry Redknapp as the people's choice. But I'm quite sure if the FA could get Wenger, they would take him," Eriksson said.

"If you consider him foreign after all his years in England, I don't know.

"Arsene Wenger can adapt to everything. I mean, he lives for football."

Speaking of the issues surrounding the nationality of the next England manager, Eriksson said that it should not be of concern.

"For me, it doesn't matter if he is English. Whatever nationality the coach, he has a difficult time if you don't reach the semi-finals. Quarter-finals was not good enough!"

Eriksson led England to three tournament quarter-finals and was rated by the FA as England's second best manager ever.
