Lee Bowyer's late strike earns Ipswich a 1-0 win over West Ham at Upton Park.

Lee Bowyer scored against his former club to earn Ipswich a valuable away win against West Ham at Upton Park this evening.

Victory could have sent West Ham to the top of the Championship, but they were frustrated by an Ipswich side who held their own in the first half.

Paul Jewell's side then had the better of the second period and were twice denied by the woodwork, first through Bowyer and then again when Keith Andrew's late header came back off the post.

Shortly after, Bowyer struck home from close range to give secure Ipswich the victory with just minutes remaining.

Bowyer, who made 51 appearances at West Ham over two spells at the club and scored four times, opened his account for the Tractor Boys by scoring against them tonight.

The win sees Ipswich climb into the top half while West Ham remain in fourth.
