Lazio forward Mauro Zarate insists that he wants to walk away from the club without asking for a single euro.

Mauro Zarate has declared that he would tear up his contract without asking for any money to secure a transfer away from Lazio.

The striker has made just a single appearance for the Rome giants this season and came close to signing for Dynamo Kiev in January.

Despite being linked with a host of clubs across Europe, including Kiev and Sunderland, the Argentine forward remains in Serie A.

Zarate has insisted that the president is to blame for his move to Kiev falling through and has once again called for his contract to be terminated.

He said: "The only problems here have been created by the president.

"He raised the price tag after negotiations had started and, when that was accepted, he asked for even more like the great man he is.

"I wish I could leave without asking for a single euro."

The 26-year-old was criticised by Lazio fans last week after being pictured on a beach in the Maldives while on injury leave.
