Craig Bellamy has revealed that Dame Kelly Holmes has inspired him to cherish playing for Team GB at the Olympics.
The former Olympic champion gave a pep talk to Bellamy and his teammates upon their arrival at the Olympic village and the Liverpool forward has admitted that he is ready to relish the experience of the Games.
Bellamy said: "Meeting Kelly Holmes was incredible.
"She told us what to expect. This is all new to us. It's a lot different to what we're used to football-wise. There's lot more going on, you have to be more patient. You are eating with all the other athletes. It all adds to the experience of being part of the Olympics.
"She said enjoy it and embrace it. Go and speak to other athletes, go and introduce yourself. Be part of this Great Britain experience. I never thought I would be involved in anything like this. This is something I will cherish for the rest of my life."
Stuart Pearce's side face Brazil in a friendly in Middlesbrough on Friday.
