Liverpool confirm Celtic friendly

The Aviva Stadium in Dublin will host a pre-season friendly between Liverpool and Celtic.

Liverpool have announced that they will take on Scottish champions Celtic in a pre-season friendly later this year.

The two sides will meet at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Saturday, August 10.

"We last played Celtic almost a decade ago so we are thrilled to get this event in our pre-season calendar," Liverpool's chief commercial officer Billy Hogan told the club's official website.

"Both at Liverpool and Celtic, we are fortunate to have two of the most passionate fan bases in the world and this fixture in Dublin is a chance to bring them together once again."

The last match between the British clubs took place in Connecticut in 2004.
