Alan Pardew confident ahead of Liverpool clash

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew believes that his side can "surprise" Liverpool in their Premier League clash at St James' Park later today.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is upbeat that his side can continue their recent revival of form in their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Magpies have won three games on the bounce in all competitions, including knocking Capital One Cup holders Manchester City out of the tournament with a 2-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

Pardew feels that he knows what to expect from Brendan Rodgers's side and is confident that his team are more than a match for the Reds.

He told the club's official website: "It is always a tough game. It's always a great fixture which has a certain romance about it and I think it's going to make for a cracking game on Saturday.

"There have been some good games against Liverpool since I've been here and we have more then held our own. I'm pretty confident what Liverpool will do, I know [Rodgers] well enough to know how he will come and play.

"But I think we can surprise them because one thing is for sure, Brendan won't know my team. I'm pretty confident of what's going to be and I think it will be an entertaining game."

Newcastle are 14th in the Premier League going into their clash with Liverpool.
