David Moyes says that Wayne Rooney is in the "best shape" of his life at Manchester United, amid speculation surrounding his future.

Manchester United manager David Moyes is certain that he can get Wayne Rooney back to his best this season, despite the uncertainty surrounding the striker's future.

The England international has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea among others this summer, having handed in a transfer request to leave Old Trafford towards the end of last term.

United have arrived in Bangkok for their pre-season summer tour and Moyes is positive regarding Rooney's future at United.

"The team here are telling me it is the best shape they have seen him in for five years," said Moyes.

"And I am taking that as a positive. The club have already stated Wayne is staying and is not for sale.

"I am going to get the best Wayne Rooney I possibly can."

Rooney joined United in 2004.
