Preston North End have rejected "inaccurate" claims in the British press that striker Jordan Hugill is on his way to Crystal Palace.
The London Evening Standard, among others, suggested that the Eagles were in advanced talks with the Championship side over a possible £10m transfer.
Preston were quick to respond to the speculation, though, by insisting in a short statement that Hugill - under contract at Deepdale until the end of next season - is not the subject of talks between the two clubs.
"Despite wholly inaccurate reports in a national newspaper this morning, we have not agreed any transfer fee with any club for Jordan Hugill," the statement read. "Jordan remains a contracted player to Preston North End Football Club."
Hugill, who handed in a transfer request last summer, has scored 10 goals in 29 games for Preston this season.
