Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Queens Park Rangers and Hull City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Hull City will be aiming to make it three straight wins in the Championship when they continue their 2024-25 campaign with a contest against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night.

QPR boast a record of one win, four draws and two defeats from their opening seven matches of the new Championship campaign to sit in 17th position on seven points, just two points above the relegation zone.

The team's only league success of the season came away to Luton Town at the end of August. Since then, they have picked up two points from their three games against Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and Blackburn.

The home side will enter this match off the back of a 2-0 loss to Blackburn on Saturday, and they will now tackle Hull and Derby County in quick succession before the October international break.

QPR finished 18th in the Championship last season, and they have been absent from the Premier League since 2014-15, when they lost 24 of their 38 top-flight matches to be immediately relegated.

The Hoops beat Tuesday's opponents 2-0 in the corresponding match between the two teams during the 2023-24 campaign, but Hull ran out 3-0 winners when the sides last locked horns in April 2024.

Hull, meanwhile, are currently in 12th position in the table, boasting a record of two wins, three draws and two defeats from their seven matches to collect nine points, two more than their opponents here.

The Tigers suffered back-to-back defeats to Leeds United and Sheffield United either side of the September international break, but their response has been impressive, overcoming both Stoke City and Cardiff.

Tim Walter's side were actually 1-0 down to Cardiff on Saturday, but they went on to score four times without reply, including a brace from Mohamed Belloumi, to secure a vital three points.

Hull finished seventh in the Championship last season, missing out on the playoffs by just three points, and they will be bidding to make it three successive victories on Tuesday night.

The Tigers have lost on their last two visits to QPR, conceding five times in the process, with their last away success over the Hoops coming in December 2019.

Team News

QPR will once again be without the services of Liam Morrison, Jack Colback, Morgan Fox and Ilias Chair through injury, while Jonathan Varane is suspended following his red card in the clash with Blackburn.

Michael Frey has scored three times in the Championship this season, and the 30-year-old will again lead the line.

Nicolas Madsen is expected to be the player to benefit from Varane's red card, while there will be another start in a central area for Karamoko Dembele.

As for Hull, Andy Smith, Ryan Longman and Harvey Cartwright remain on the treatment table, while Charlie Hughes and Thimothee Lo-Tutala are also expected to miss out on Tuesday night.

Belloumi scored twice against Cardiff, and he will continue in a wide area, while Chris Bedia, who has one Championship goal this season, is again set to lead the line.

Head coach Walter could name an unchanged side from Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers have not reported any fresh fitness concerns for this particular contest.

Queens Park Rangers possible starting lineup:
Nardi; Santos, Cook, Dunne, Paal; Smyth, Dembele, Madsen, Field, Saito; Frey

Hull City possible starting lineup:
Pandur; Coyle, Jones, McLoughlin, Drameh; Slater, Zambrano, Mehlem; Belloumi, Bedia, Omur

We say: Queens Park Rangers 1-1 Hull City

This fixture has favoured the home side in recent meetings, and there has only been one draw in their last eight Championship encounters. We are struggling to pick a winner on Tuesday night, though, with a tight match potentially ending with the points being shared.
