Reading manager Nigel Adkins has admitted that he is targeting new signings before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Royals have already signed three players since the end of last season, but Adkins has revealed that he has not finished making amendments to his first-team squad.
The 48-year-old told BBC Berkshire: "We need competition, a strong squad and we are still in this transfer window.
"I'd like to think that we are going to bring some more players in to bolster the squad we've got."
Adkins witnessed his side defeat Ipswich Town 2-1 last weekend to get their Championship campaign off to a winning start.
