Quico Catalan: 'Keylor Navas deal has helped us'

Levante president Quico Catalan says that the sale of Keylor Navas this summer has placed the club in a solid financial position.

Levante president Quico Catalan has said that the sale of Keylor Navas to Real Madrid has placed the club in a much more stable position.

Levante gained a figure in the region of £9m for the Costa Rican this summer, which Catalan has revealed will stand the club in good stead for the future.

"Financially, [it's very good] for Levante. It allows us to pay off a large debt we inherited from the past. In the last five years we have fulfilled beyond our obligations... but the transfer of Navas gives us much more socially," he told AS.

"For an institution like Levante that is invaluable. That Levante have transferred a player to Madrid who spent three years here, it means Keylor has developed at Levante. It's an operation that puts Levante on the map for other players."

Navas will battle Iker Casillas for the gloves at the Bernabeu.
