Robert Snodgrass: 'Scotland can qualify for 2014 World Cup'

Robert Snodgrass insists that Scotland can cause a surprise and qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Scotland winger Robert Snodgrass has insisted that his country are not there to "make up the numbers" in their World Cup qualifying group.

Scotland have been drawn in a tough group that includes Croatia, Belgium and Serbia, but the 24-year-old Norwich player has insisted that he believes his country can cause a surprise and qualify for the World Cup in two years' time.

Snodgrass said: "We are not here to make up the numbers. There is a firm belief about this squad that we can go and pick up maximum points and qualify.

"There is a good mood about the camp, there always has been every time I have been here.

"We have a job to do as footballers and we will approach each game thinking we can win it. It starts on Saturday and everybody is raring to go."

Scotland begin their World Cup qualifying campaign with a Hampden Park double-header, where they will play Serbia on Saturday and Macedonia on Tuesday.
