Report: Southampton fail in £9.5m Marcos Rojo bid

A report claims that Southampton have had a £9.5m offer for Marcos Rojo rejected by Sporting Lisbon.

Southampton have reportedly had an offer in the region of £9.5m for Argentine left-back Marcos Rojo rebuffed by Sporting Lisbon.

Rojo, who starred for Argentina at this summer's World Cup, has been strongly linked with a move away from Portugal this summer.

Despite interest from Chelsea, Southampton are believed to have made the first official offer as they prepare to replace Luke Shaw.

However, according to O Jogo, Sporting have rejected the opening offer of £9.5m.

It is understood that the Saints will return with a new bid this week.
