Jermaine Pennant has signed a one-year contract extension with Stoke City.
The 30-year-old was expected to leave the Premier League club as a free agent this summer.
However, new Potters boss Mark Hughes has handed Pennant a deal for next season.
"I've admired Jermaine from afar and there is no question about his ability," Hughes told the club's official website.
"I am looking to introduce more creativity and attacking options to the side, qualities Jermaine can certainly offer us."
Pennant signed a permanent contact with Stoke in 2010 following brief loan spell.
