Jozy Altidore vows to improve for Sunderland next season

Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore reveals that he is looking forward to making a bigger impact for the team next season.

Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore has revealed that he is looking forward to the challenge of improving on the pitch next season.

The USA international scored just two goals in 39 appearances for the Black Cats last term following a £6.5m move from AZ Alkmaar in July 2013.

Following an underwhelming first campaign in English football, Altidore plans to make a bigger impact next year.

"For me it'll be a fun challenge. I'm looking forward to getting back there next season and hitting the ground running from the first game on," the 24-year-old told The Journal.

"I believe in myself. You're going to go through tough times. It can't be that every season you have a blinder. The biggest thing is how you respond to that."

Altidore was recently named in the USA's provisional 30-man squad for this summer's World Cup.
