West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis: 'Success has put me under pressure'

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis suggests that his previous success with the Baggies has put him under pressure to keep his job at The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has suggested that last season's top-10 finish in the Premier League has led to more pressure being placed on him to deliver results.

For large parts of the previous campaign, the Baggies sat in eighth place before a late slump led to the West Midlands outfit eventually finishing in 10th spot, just one point off eighth-placed Southampton.

However, Pulis has delivered just two wins from his last 20 top-flight fixtures, and the Welshman has acknowledged that results must improve if he is to keep his job at The Hawthorns.

The 59-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I understand the more you give, the more people want. You don't have to tell me results have to get better.

"Last season we stayed in eighth more than any other position in the league. We ended up 10th for third time in club's history. It is only the second time since 1967 that we have finished as the top Midlands club."

West Brom host Chelsea on Saturday afternoon looking to register their first league win since the second weekend of the season.
