Manuel Lanzini is charged with deceiving the officials in West Ham United's win over Stoke City after diving to win a penalty at the bet365 Stadium.

West Ham United attacker Manuel Lanzini has been charged by the Football Association with deceiving a match official to win a penalty in the 3-0 victory over Stoke City.

Potters boss Mark Hughes was left furious with referee Graham Scott's decision to point to the spot 19 minutes into the match, accusing Lanzini of going down under no contact from Erik Pieters.

A three-man panel of former officials has looked back over the incident, which came at a point in the relegation six-pointer when the scoreline remained goalless, and decided to charge the 24-year-old.

Stoke now have until 6pm on Tuesday to respond, with Lanzini facing the prospect of becoming the second player to be banned for diving since the new rule was introduced at the start of the season.

Everton striker Oumar Niasse was the first to face retrospective action after conning the officials in last month's meeting with Watford, leading to a two-match suspension.
