Castleford Tigers 12-18 St. Helens

St. Helens continue their recent good form with a 18-12 victory over Castleford this afternoon.

St. Helens continued their Super League revival this afternoon with a hard-fought 18-12 win over Castleford Tigers at the PROBIZ Coliseum.

The Saints took the lead when Ade Gardner went over before the two sides traded tries, Sia Soliola touching down for the visitors and Brett Ferres responding with four points for Castleford.

St. Helens went into the half-time interval 8-6 up, and ran in two tries in the second period, courtesy of Michael Shenton and Francis Meli to give them an 18-6 lead.

The Tigers tried to fight back, with Ferres getting his second try of the match, but they couldn't break through a stubborn Saints defence for a third time.

The result means that neither side move in the Super League table, St. Helens remaining eighth while Castleford stay in 11th.
