Defending champions New Zealand book their place in the semi-finals of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup by thrashing Scotland 40-4 in Leeds.

The defending champions stormed into a 36-0 lead at Headingley, with tries coming from Bryson Goodwin, Jesse Bromwich, Frank Pritchard, Manu Vatuvei, Shaun Johnson and a double from Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

Alex Hurst crossed the line 14 minutes from full time to give Scotland something to show for their brave efforts.

However, the Kiwis' progression to the last four was never in doubt and their advantage was extended further in the dying seconds when Goodwin touched down to register his second try of the night.

New Zealand will now face either England or France in the first of two back-to-back semi-finals at Wembley Stadium on Saturday November 23.
