Harlequins increase their lead at the top of the Aviva Premiership with a 30-21 win over Sale Sharks.

Harlequins have extended their lead at the top of the Aviva Premiership with a 30-21 win over Sale Sharks this evening.

The hosts made a fast start to the game as they looked to continue their recent winning run, with Cameron Shepherd crossing the try line in the opening minute.

Two penalties from Ben Botica kept the league leaders in contention, before a Tom Williams try towards the end of the opening half saw the visitors take the lead, have dominated the final 10 minutes of the first period.

After a quiet start to the second half, Charlie Matthews added two tries in the space of seven minutes for Harlequins, opening up a 23-point advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

Sale fought back, with Richie Vernon and Sam Tuitupou adding tries inside the last five minutes and cutting the visitors' lead to nine points, but there was not enough time left for Sharks to catch their opponents.
