Jamie Ward, Laura Robson, Elena Baltacha, Heather Watson and Anne Keothavong all exit the Australian Open to leave Andy Murray as the only British player in the tournament.

Five Britons exited the Australian Open on day one, leaving Andy Murray as the only player from the British Isles remaining in the competition.

In the women's draw, Heather Watson, Laura Robson and Elena Baltacha were knocked out by Victoria Azarenka, Jelena Jankovic and Stephanie Foretz Gacon respectively.

Anne Keothavong has also dropped out of the tournament following her retirement from her match with Mona Barthel due to illness.

Jamie Ward has fallen at the first hurdle in the men's draw, losing to Slovenian Blaz Kavcic.

Not one of the losing Brits managed to win a set in their matches.
