Milos Raonic plays down the foot injury he suffered during an Australian Open defeat to Roger Federer and insists he will be fit to play against Spain in next month's Davis Cup tie.

Milos Raonic has declared himself fit for Canada's Davis Cup tie next month and played down a foot injury suffered during his Australian Open campaign.

Roger Federer ended the world number 15's Melbourne run in the fourth round on Sunday with a straight-sets victory.

Raonic complained of pain in his foot following the match but has insisted that he underwent an MRI scan only as a precaution.

He told reporters: "I rushed out to get a quick MRI on my foot, but the foot is good.

"It's just pain from use. It was really nothing until 48 hours ago. There's nothing there to affect my participation in the Davis Cup matches.

"I'll be there, if called upon. I just need a few days to maximize my treatment to make it go away and get well."

Canada face Davis Cup favourites Spain in a home tie beginning on Friday, February 1.
