David Ferrer has congratulated Rafael Nadal on his victory in the French Open final.

Nadal beat his fellow Spaniard 6-3 6-2 6-3 in Paris on Sunday to clinch the title for a record eighth time.

"I enjoyed a lot these two weeks," said Ferrer. "I would like to say congratulations to Rafael. I think he's the best.

"I will try to do my best to have a new chance to win a Grand Slam. I know that it's going to be difficult but I will fight to be here for a final again."

Sunday saw Ferrer compete in the first Slam final of his career.
