West Bromwich Albion are relegated from the Premier League following their 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

West Bromwich Albion have been relegated from the Premier League following their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Sunday evening.

The result leaves the Baggies 10 points adrift of safety with only nine points left to fight for, confirming their immediate return to the Championship with three games remaining.

The relegation is the first of Sam Allardyce's managerial career, ending his proud record of having kept all of his previous top-flight clubs in the division.

West Brom fell 2-0 down inside the first half at the Emirates Stadium courtesy of goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Nicolas Pepe, leaving them needing a stirring second-half fightback to keep their slim survival hopes alive for at least another game.

Matheus Pereira pulled one back for the visitors in the second half, but Willian's 90th-minute strike confirmed the Baggies' relegation once and for all.

West Brom join Sheffield United in suffering relegation to the Championship this season, while Fulham will join them in the second tier if they lose to Burnley on Monday night.

The Baggies have now been relegated from the top flight on 11 separate occasions, with only Birmingham City (12) suffering that fate more often in English football history.

Allardyce's side will end their one-season stay in the Premier League with games against Liverpool, West Ham United and Leeds United.
