Arsenal 'planning new contracts for Saliba, Martinelli'

Arsenal reportedly plan to extend the contracts of both William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli this summer.

Arsenal are reportedly hoping to tie William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli down to new deals at the Emirates.

Saliba is still waiting for his first senior appearance in red and white but has established himself as a key player for Champions League-chasing Marseille during his third loan spell away from the club.

Meanwhile, Martinelli has started to make a name for himself under Mikel Arteta after a slow start to life with the Spaniard in the dugout, banking four goals and two assists in 14 Premier League appearances this term.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are planning to extend the deals of both youngsters this year, while Bukayo Saka is also thought to be in line for a bumper new contract.

The report adds that Saliba intends to return to Arsenal and compete for a first-team place next season, even with Real Madrid and Inter Milan supposedly interested in signing him.

The Gunners will also allegedly consider handing Arteta a new contract if he steers the club to a top-six finish this term, with his existing deal due to expire in 2023.
