Tyrick Mitchell and Kyle Walker-Peters earn their first call-ups to the England national team as Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold pull out injured.

Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters and Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell have earned their first call-ups to the England national team.

Mitchell has amassed two assists from 29 top-flight games for the Eagles this term, and Gareth Southgate confirmed that the 22-year-old was "very close" to making the initial squad.

Walker-Peters, meanwhile, has thrived on both sides of the Saints' defence this season, scoring two goals and setting up four more in 28 appearances across all competitions.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James both forced to pull out injured, Walker-Peters and Mitchell have been handed their first call-ups to the Three Lions squad.

The duo are two of four alterations in Southgate's ranks, with Sam Johnstone replacing injured Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, while Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins comes in for Tammy Abraham.

England will do battle with Switzerland on March 26 before a meeting with Ivory Coast at Wembley Stadium three days later.
