Franck Ribery pleased with goal

Franck Ribery says that he is happy with his first goal in over three years for France.

Franck Ribery has said that he is pleased with his goal in France's 3-2 win over Iceland.

The Bayern Munich winger, who had not found the back of the net for Les Bleus since 2009, revealed that teammates Karim Benzema, Samir Nasri and Hatem Ben Arfa had been teasing him about his barren spell in front of goal.

Laurent Blanc's men turned around a two-goal deficit to emerge victorious in Valenciennes, with defender Adil Rami scoring the winner three minutes from time.

Ribery admitted that the team performance as a whole left a little to be desired, but said that he was satisfied to have come away with a win.

"This goal is good for me," said Ribery. "Before going on the field, Karim, Samir and Hatem, they teased me.

"So, I am very satisfied for myself and my team. We wanted to win this match and to please the fans.

"We were not particularly good but we are happy to have won tonight. It is never easy to win and we have a lot of respect for [Iceland]."

The 29-year-old has played 58 times for his country.
