Charles Green disappointed by Rangers' SPL snub

Charles Green admits his consortium are disappointed by the possibility of Rangers having their bid to stay in the SPL rejected by other top-flight Scottish clubs.

Rangers CEO Charles Green has confessed his disappointment at Rangers' possible exclusion from next season's Scottish Premier League.

The Ibrox club's top-fight future is in severe doubt after six SPL teams announced their intention to vote against Rangers' inclusion for the 2012-13 campaign after they fell into administration in February.

Green has admitted the news has come as a major blow to his consortium but has also insisted that it will not damage their resolve in rebuilding the Glasgow giants.

"I'm obviously disappointed, but we have to deal with the cards we have been dealt," Green told Sky Sports News.

"It's unfortunate people have come out and made these comments when my understanding was that there was going to be a vote next Wednesday, but I can't control other clubs.

"The consortium realised that if we went down the newco route it was a risk. It doesn't alter their resolve."

An official vote will take place on July 4 with Rangers needing an 8-4 majority to secure their SPL place next season.
