Rangers send their condolences to the club's former midfielder Claudio Reyna after learning of the death of his 13-year-old son Jack.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has expressed his sadness after learning of the death of former midfielder Claudio Reyna's 13-year-old son Jack.

The ex-USA international, who experienced stints at Manchester City and Sunderland, tragically lost his son last night following a lengthy battle with a brain tumour.

Rangers released a statement on their official website, which said: "Rangers Football Club [has] learned of the tragic news that Claudio Reyna's son Jack has sadly died after a battle with cancer. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Claudio and his family at this extremely difficult time."

McCoist added: "On behalf of everyone at Rangers I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Claudio and his family at this difficult time. Losing a child at just 13 is a tragedy and puts football into perspective."

Reyna's son was born during the midfielder's time at Ibrox in 1999.
