Hull City manager Steve Bruce pours cold water on speculation linking Emile Heskey with a move to the KC Stadium.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has dismissed reports claiming that Emile Heskey could be on his way to the KC Stadium this summer.

Heskey was released by Aston Villa in May and it had been rumoured that Bruce was keen to be reunited with the 34-year-old forward, with whom he worked at Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic.

However, Bruce insists that there is no substance behind the speculation and that his priority is to sign a goalkeeper.

"It's people putting two and two together because he's played for me twice, at Birmingham and Wigan," Bruce told Radio Humberside. "I like him as a player and he's done really well for me in the past but I've not had any conversations with him.

"You haven't got to be a rocket scientist to work out that we don't have a goalkeeper at the club. We thought we were close to bringing Brad Guzan here but he's decided to stay in the Premier League.

"My number one priority is getting a goalkeeper in. We've got irons in the fire but there's some very good keepers out there at the moment."

Heskey won 67 senior England caps between 1999 and 2010.
