Victor Valdes insists that he is not complacent about his place in the Barcelona first team.
The Spain international goalkeeper will embark on his 11th season at Camp Nou in 2012-13 and is slated to remain the first choice between the posts under new coach Tito Vilanova.
However, the 30-year-old insists that he is not taking his place in the starting lineup for granted.
"This is my 11th season and I have always said the same thing," Valdes is quoted as saying on Barcelona's official website.
"I have never felt that I'm the number one choice and I never will do. I have seen everything and until the very last day I come to the Ciutat Esportiva, I won't feel assured of my place."
Barcelona will begin their Primera Liga campaign with a home game against Real Sociedad on Sunday, August 19.
