Antoine Griezmann is to be fined by Atletico Madrid for failing to turn up for training on Sunday as instructed, according to a report.

Barcelona-bound Antoine Griezmann is reportedly facing a financial punishment for failing to turn up for the start of Atletico Madrid's pre-season campaign.

Los Rojiblancos issued a statement on Saturday demanding that the Frenchman take part in training the following day.

Griezmann was a no-show, however, and The Independent reports that he will now be fined by the Spanish club.

The 28-year-old announced earlier this summer that he intends to leave the Wanda Metropolitano, with Barcelona the favourites to sign him.

Despite discussions dragging out, a transfer is expected to go through by the end of the week.
