Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Derby County

Sports Mole looks ahead to Tuesday's clash between Championship promotion hopefuls Blackburn Rovers and Derby County.

Derby County will be looking to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night when they travel to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

The Rams dropped points for the second consecutive game on Sunday as they drew 1-1 at local rivals Nottingham Forest.

Steve McClaren's side, beaten playoff finalists last season, head to Ewood Park in 10th position in the table, two points off the promotion places.

Meanwhile, eighth-placed Blackburn can notch up their second win in a row after they came from behind to earn a 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on the weekend.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer could name the same XI that defeated Wigan, but Derby are without defender Jake Buxton, who is suspended following his red card against Forest.

Blackburn hold the better record when it comes to previous meetings against Derby, with an unbeaten run of seven matches in all competitions.
