Chelsea reportedly make contact with Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho over returning to Stamford Bridge as manager at the end of the season.

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho over the prospect of returning to Stamford Bridge.

Blues interim boss Rafael Benitez is looking increasingly likely to be dismissed from his post following the weekend's 3-2 defeat to Newcastle United.

It is understood that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen to welcome Mourinho back to West London, despite previously falling out with the Portuguese coach, and talks have begun over his availability, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports have claimed that Mourinho, who coached Chelsea for three years, is willing to leave Madrid at the end of the season.
