Brendan Rodgers challenges Victor Moses to earn Liverpool stay

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claims that on-loan Chelsea winger Victor Moses still has time to earn a permanent switch to Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that on-loan winger Victor Moses could still earn a permanent switch to Anfield.

Moses has netted just one goal in six Premier League starts since joining the Reds on loan from Chelsea on September 2, but he got himself on the scoresheet in the 2-0 FA Cup win at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Rodgers has challenged the 23-year-old to up his general level of performance in order to prove that he deserves to stay with the five-time European champions.

"For Victor, it is very simple. He wants to remain in a position that he will remain at a big club, whether it is Chelsea or Liverpool. There is no bigger motivation than that," Rodgers told The Mirror.

"In order to do that, he needs to be performing day in day out in training. if he does really well for us there is a possibility we will want to have him permanently, but ultimately it is Chelsea's decision because he is their player.

"And if he has done really well then they will want to keep him. So there's every motivation. When you sample the life of the big institutions like Liverpool then there's not many that want to leave."

Moses is under contract at Chelsea until June 2017, but the Stamford Bridge club are likely to be open to the idea of selling him this summer.
